What Are Down Pillows?
Down pillows are filled with round feather clusters from duck or goose bellies. Rather than sleeping on the pillow, this type of pillow stuffing feels like you’re sleeping inside of it. A down feather pillow insert is also odor-free and easier to clean than a memory foam pillow insert. If you regularly fluff your down pillows and take care of them, they will provide years of comfort and support.
Down Pillow Filling Blends
Typically, down inserts for pillows are a blend of down and regular duck or goose feathers. In the examples below, it’s written as two numbers:
- 10/90 is a blend of 10% down and 90% feathers.
- 25/75 is a blend of 25% down and 75% feathers.
- 50/50 is a blend of 50% down and 50% feathers.
High-quality down pillows have a blend of 25/75 or better. Due to their higher down content, they are softer. There is a 220-thread count down-proof fabric covering down pillow inserts. The weaving pattern and thread size used in this fabric prevent down leakage.
The 25/75 blend of down pillow insert is the best for softness and quality. Our 50/50 blends come in customizable shapes below. A pillow filled with 50/50 down or 100% down feels even softer.
